It’s been a while since I’ve put ‘pen to paper’ to write a blog. So much has happened within the business as it has gone on from strength-to-strength so it’s about time I brought you all up to speed.
New Employee
The main thing that has happened is that I have a new employee. The business has got so busy that there needs to be two of us supporting all our loyal customers, so welcome James to Camelock. James is an ex Royal Navy sailor who trained as a locksmith when he left the service. His expertise has been put to good use already, working hard on his first day to help customers with failed locks and a couple of emergency callouts to people locked out. As you can see, his transport is very much placed to be a proper emergency vehicle.

More Award Short-listings
Since the last blog, the business has gone on to be shortlisted another 2 times. Firstly as a finalist at the Herald Business Awards in 2019, in the Excellence in Customer Service category. Last week I found out I’ve been short-listed in the Federation of Small Businesses Awards in the Self-Employed/Sole Trader of the Year category. Obviously no longer a sole trader, this is the last year I could try this category so fingers crossed for the results in April. The FSB award is for the whole of the South West so I feel very priveliged and honoured to be considered for such an award. Hopefully this time next year, the business will be in a good position to see if we’re worthy of further recgonition.
Quality Locks
I do believe that part of the business success has been down to using quality parts. I have found that budget locks do not last and always have problems not long after installing them. My customers much prefer that piece of quality to not only make them feel secure but know that their locks are going to last a long time. Budget locks are a false economy, you will save initially but pay for it in the long term.
Is it a bird, is it a plane?
No, it’s the flying knight! You’ll soon be able to look above and see me take to the skies as I have taken up a new hobby, paramotoring. Having recently qualified as a paramotor pilot, I’m just getting more experience before flying around the outskirts of Plymouth. Please make sure you take a photo if you see me and tag on social media. It would be great to see what the view looks like from the ground!
