Reducing our Carbon Footprint
Reducing our carbon footprint is a high priority for us. We have been investing in many measures to help make our planet healthier and stop polluting our amazing city of Plymouth. Every time we invest, it costs our business a lot of money however we believe so strongly in this, we save a good proportion of our profits to invest in our green future. Here are a few ways we’ve been helping to do our bit:

Electric Motorbike
Motorcycles already produce less Co2 emissions than our vans and have been used on many jobs and recces in the past 12 years. We have recently purchased a fully electric motorbike to ensure that all small jobs and recces are now fully carbon free. As the bike charges solely from the solar panels, we can be sure that our business carbon footprint is vastly reduced.

Solar panels
We have recently invested in a set of solar panels on the roof of Camelock. This is used to power our everyday needs in the building such as lights, computers and key cutting machines. We are going to be investing more soon in batteries to store unused energy for night-time use. The solar panels also charge our electric fleet of vehicles.

Bicycle
The director and some staff cycle to work at times. Not only is this good for the environment, but it is also good for us to be healthy. It also saves money on fuel. We promote this scheme as much as possible for the benefit to us all.

Electric Car and Van
We have just received (Dec 2022) the first ID Buzz Cargo (Pictured top right) in the SW, the new electric van from VW. Having paid a deposit when we first heard about it ensured we were the first to get this electric van. This will mean we can carry out our locksmith duties whilst keeping our carbon footprint to a minimun. We will be able to charge this vehicle from our solar panels which will keep our ensure we use less electricity from the grid. The company director also has an electric company car to drive to meetings or home when not cycling.

Recycling Waste
We have a waste contract with Zero to Landfill which recycles our company waste. We also take our metal waste to a scrap dealer. The money from this is given to local charities to make sure local people benefit from it.

Walking
Where possible, we will walk to business meetings or events when they are near our HQ building (Camelock). Like cycling, this is not just good to reduce our carbon footprint, but good exercise promoting wellness in the work environment.
